There must be a name for all the stuff inside that for years and years, one has tried to hide. The stuff that when it rears its head can shock even you with what you’ve said. The stuff that can somehow set you free… perhaps the name is suppressed memory.

Suppressed memory may set you free, but so, too, will forgiveness. I think identifying our inhibitions, resentments, and other roadblocks, then letting them go allows us to move forward with our lives, for we can not look ahead and behind at the same time—I fought that battle, for years, before I realized it’s easier just to look ahead, and let go, and let God—figuratively speaking, of course.

I couldn’t agree more. Someone once pointed out that there is a reason why a rear view mirror is so small and a windshield is so large!
