Plastic on windows
To protect inside from out
Keeping outside out
Put up years ago
Meaning to be seasonal
Blocking winter’s chill
Yet in the springtime
It was found to keep out bugs
Who slipped in through cracks
So I left It up
Creating a secure space
Yet disturbing friends
Finally today
Down came the bedroom plastic
And the dust appeared
Ah ha, plastic’s role
Where the windows are concerned
Makes more sense than curtains

Given the title of the poem, this is powerful metaphor for the impulse to go down the road of recovery and the impulse to go back out for:
Where the windows are concerned / Makes more sense than curtains
