Writers Quote Wednesday Writing Challenge Romance

Ah, romance!  I have such a writing romance influence affair on going with one of the most memorable female writers of all time, the sarcastic, witty, Dorothy Parker!  She was a poet, short story writer and critic. From 1919 through 1929, she was one of the charter members of the infamous Algonquin Round Table.  They (writers, actors, media people, those who were available) met daily for lunch at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City and they sat at a round table, hence the name of the group. Oh the quotable energy that filled the room… (I’d have loved to have been a fly on the wall on any given day)

I present to you a meme I created with many of her quotes along with a humble tribute in haiku to one of the female authors in history, I would change places with in a heart-beat (if that were possible).

Oh, her words could wound

cleverly she’d craft her barbs

none were ever safe

she could hold her own

nothing sharper than her wit

both feared and revered

stories wise and deep

poetry quoted often

she was born to write

  3. I wish I could go back in time and hang out with Dorothy Parker. I’m sure it would have been loads of fun. I loved the poem and the meme was fun. 😀

You know what, I do too. Of course it would be fun for both of us to jump back in time, so let’s make a pact that when one of us figures out how to do that, we will grab the other one! Thank you for your kind words regarding the haiku and the meme. It was a grin for me for sure! 🙂
