me stry

Where am I hiding

What it is I cannot see

Beneath the layers

Was told what to be

How to be and where to go

As I followed blind

Something inside knew

Part of me did not agree

With another’s truth

Slowly but surely

I walked discovery’s path

Of the real me

Each day I find more

Digging for buried treasure

To own my soul’s gold

I set myself free

To explore and celebrate

The mystery me

  4. I was a bit worried about what direction this poem was going– my own interpretaion – I thought it was about abuse but I am glad to see it is much more uplifting. Im not saying people shouldn’t express themselves writing about traumatic experiences. I am glad that yours isn’t 🙂
