Well, here we are, in the month of May 2016 and you know what that means… it is Get Caught Reading Month! Authors, publishers, teachers and high profile public figures are banding together to promote literacy with campaigns aimed specifically at children. This is not a new idea, it’s been around since 1999 and still going strong. http://www.getcaughtreading.org
I have been encouraging everyone I come in contact with to do something in support of this initiative, such as reading to children, tutoring children, writing for children and most importantly, BEING that role model and to GET CAUGHT READING! In other words, we each have a contribution we can make.
One of my contributions to this month, is to host interviews with several authors on my Friday afternoon internet radio program, Tell Me a Story, which airs on The Magic Happens Radio Network. Four fellow bloggers have graciously agreed to participate, as there are four Fridays in the month of May this year. Here they are, in alphabetical order. Sally Cronin, Deanie Humphrys-Dunne, Don Massenzio and Bette A. Stevens. These extremely talented, published authors are passionate about supporting literacy and I am just as anxious as you, to hear what they have to say.
Of course I am not going to tell you, right now, who is to be featured in which week, you’ll have to catch the weekly Wednesday posts, announcing that Friday’s guest. Once you have heard the program, please visit the author’s blog and share a cheery comment. Perhaps you will be moved to look up their books and even FOLLOW them, if you aren’t already.
This is promising to be one inspiring month and it’s all because we are willing to do our part to support literacy and to GET CAUGHT READING!
