Defying the Gravitational Pull to the Dark Side

Defy

I noticed, this morning, as I parked myself in front on my laptop with a cafe latte and a bowl of yummy oats that there was something suspicious about my emails. There were so few, it made me question if I was, in fact, checking MY EMAILS!  Seriously, I waken to anywhere from 190 – 290 emails each morning and this morning, there was a mere 90. It was as though my connection to WORD PRESS had gone dark…

Z’up with that??

Naturally, I checked the spam folder and nope, only found that which I would consider spam, a lot…

Away I flew to MANAGE my PREFERENCES and as I was checking the blogs I follow to make certain that I was indeed, turned on, I WAS allowing the posts to come through. However, they were NOT!  Also, I noticed that even though I was typing in URL’s of certain blogs, they kept telling me that these were not valid…

I also noticed that after I went through and turned some off and then on again, I received a notification in my email that I was now following a particular blog. And little by little, I began receiving notices of some posts.  But NOT as before.

deep sigh

I also began going through the posts in my READER and after an hour of that…  But that can be maddening and I actually had to get up and do the dishes just to regain my sanity. New posts kept being added… I was jumping through too many hoops.

Okay, so as of now, I am missing a lot of what the lot of you are posting and I do not know why. If someone has a thought and are willing to enlighten me, I would be most grateful.  I will give it my best to attempt to keep up with everyone until this situation rights itself.  Please forgive me if I miss something and know that I intend to defy this gravitational pull to the dark side!

Love, Annette Rochelle

  1. I seem o be missing posts in my reader, also. I assume it’s a WP problem 😦

    • Ah, ha! I just knew if I reached out, I might find another, or two, who were possibly experiencing some WP crankiness. I feel a bit better knowing that there might be nothing I can do, except wait it out. (picked a fine time to be out of ice cream) ❤

      • I always assume I did something (which may be true usually) but today I couldn’t remember the last time I’d seen a post from Al Lane, whom I adore, and I was not following him! And I know I wouldn’t have done that 🙂 Yeah, I’m not sure what to do — but time to go get ice cream maybe?

  3. It’s been awhile since WordPress has screwed something up. Their incompetence was long overdue for another glitch!

  7. When my smartphone does this I turn it off and go to the library and connect with my email account. 9 of 10 times it just needed to refresh. I don’t have a home computer. Maybe you can try this and see? Let me know if it does or doesn’t work out! 🙂

  8. Mine have all been coming through as normal, even if my posts have not been going out to the people I would like to… most strange! Hopefully it’s all sorted now 🙂

  13. Maybe you just need a little time away from the blog, Annette. Sometimes we get this message in different ways 🙂
I have tried this before, but it use to come back to “normal” in few days.

Are others seeing a drop in notifications? I usually get about 130 emails and only had 90 this morning.

  15. You are not alone Annette. I noticed this very same thing last week! My inbox is flooded, but I noticed after awhile of not seeing some of my ‘usual suspects’ posts something was off. I went over to a few blogs I (thought) I was following to see if there were posts I hadn’t seen, and indeed there were. That prompted me to check my ‘manage’ section on the reader, to find that many of the usual blogs had notifications turned off. Now what’s up with WordPress doing that? ❤

    • It’s strange, because I have noticed a few slip-ups here and there but nothing like this… Thank goodness it seems to have rebooted itself and we’re back in business. I just didn’t want others thinking I wasn’t caring enough to pay attention to what they were posting… ❤

      • I hear you on that. Especially when we follow so many blogs, we sometimes don’t notice a post or two we hadn’t seen, thinking perhaps the blogger was taking a break. But realizing too many were missing sent me into FBI mode, lol ❤

  16. I’m fighting with this for months now! Keeping contact with WordPress support it gets better – then it gets worse again. I’m missing so much and so many wonderful post. Apparently WordPress knows something is going on… and they promised to fix it… for more than half a year now…

  17. I have experienced this for some time… Most of the blogs I follow “go dark” on the notification emails, and I find I must take a couple of days to look up who I follow and seek their blogs out….must be a glitch. An ugly, ugly glitch.
