Who will admit it… that their poetry is bad? Is there not a writer out there who thinks they have created the greatest gift to the world?
(put your hand down, Annette)
I have to say, that when I first began writing, my poetry was soooo bad that I couldn’t get myself interested in sharing it. Much like the quote in the above picture, all of what I wrote sprung from genuine feeling. Adolescent, romantic feelings none the less. I know that this is why I kept writing. Because I wanted to create something I could eventually share.
How in the world will we be able to find examples of bad poetry to share? I’m not sure. Perhaps it is enough that we take a moment to say a silent “thank-you” to and for the bad poetry of the world, for it truly inspires better poetry.
