Positive Thinking Day

positvethinkingday

So, back in 2003, this American entrepreneur decided to establish a day allowing us to commemorate the rewards of positive thinking. Can’t seem to locate the name of this person however there are millions of people all around the world who will be tuned into their “vibe of positivity” on September 13th!

Books have been written, movies produced and songs recorded that all espouse the benefits of placing positive thinking at the top of our to-do list. Motivational speakers create videos and mantras a plenty exist on memes to remind us to choose the thought that gives us a good feeling. Gee, there must be something to this idea of positive thinking, eh?

Without a doubt, the most famous of all books ever written on the topic is the 1952 title: The Power of Positive Thinking by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale.  Believe it or not, this book was quite controversial in its day and yet it remains of the most loved, respected and well read books of its genre.

So, how is it suggested that we spend Positive Thinking Day?  How about begin the day with an affirmation of power such as: “This is the best day of my life thus far”  Those who know me well, recognize that phrase and yes, I DO start my days feeling those words throughout my entire being.

Next, continue the positive vibes by doing something as simple as SMILING!  That’s right, just SMILE!  Of course there might be those who think you have lost your mind however, SMILE at them bigger!

Read a book about positive thinking. Watch a video or movie that helps you connect with a feeling of possible!  Do something nice for someone who cannot pay you back. Hug a pet. Hug a tree. Take the day off. Relax in meditation. Exercise. Eat well. Listen to music that makes you want to dance. Laugh.

Seems to me that all of these suggestions might be great for ANY day and not just specifically on September 13th. Well, everyone needs a starting point, so make POSITIVE THINKING DAY the beginning of the best life you have lived thus far!

  2. Today I have been all alone but I had a very happy day doing things I like as writing and reading and taking a long walk where I talked to my Lord and Savior. I know I may sound strange but I smile all over writing this comment. So thank you for your positive input

  3. Positive Thinking Day? How did I miss this one? I guess I celebrated by going to Tai Chi class at the local library. The instructor referred to the class as “evidence based” for improving balance in seniors. That made me smile and remember a dear friend and M.D. who told me years ago that proof and acceptance of the effectiveness of alternative medicine and the ancient wisdom traditions in treating and preventing illness and injury was coming. Yes it is. 🙂

    Happy Positive Thinking Day!

  13. I didn’t know there was such a day! But I’m glad there is! I also like your suggestion to honor Positive Thinking Day by smiling, because there’s merit to it. There’s actually a good deal of research showing that when people smile, even if it’s a fake smile, they actually feel happier. I imagine the same is true for our posture too: standing up straight and walking briskly may well enhance our moods.

  15. There were so many positive message books published in the 1970’s that it warranted a series of PMA Seminars, with guest speakers of great renown in the world of inspiration. PMA- Positive Mental Attitude. I was mesmerized, became a huge fan of the literature. The seminars were like adult pep rallies! ☺ Your post is a great reminder…for today, or any day. We need so much more of this. Thanks. ❤️ 💛 💙 💜
