Something caught her eye

She picked up the bit of lace

Discarded it seemed

Could it have been worn

On a wedding dress or hat

For a special day

Perhaps for a doll

Some baby’s christening gown

It belonged somewhere

She felt its stories

Sensing, it still had value

Touching it with care

Held it to her heart

The lace seemed to speak to her

I still have purpose

  1. Like your protagonist, many times I keep something just because it’s beautiful. I have a bowl of them on my counter.
