Inspire Someone on April 10th Encourage a Young Writer Day

Every year, April 10th is known as Encourage a Young Writer Day. What a wonderful way to cultivate creativity.  I decided to post this a couple days early to give people the chance to arrange something for the young writers they may know.

You can gift a young person a journal, some pens and a bookmark.

You can write a letter of support and send it to a young person to bolster their confidence.

You could host an afternoon of writing fun with a small group of young writers. Bringing them together for writing exercises and sharing of their works.

You could mentor a young person through a specific project such as poem, short story or even a book.

Whatever you choose to do, be sure to let the young writers in your life know that there are no limits as to where their writing can take them.

  2. How I wish my writing class met on M instead of W! I guess I will just have to make Encourage Young Writers Day fall every W for the rest of the semester.

  8. What a wonderful idea, Annette. I’ve recently been helping a neighbour’s son with his writing after he found out that I had published a book. He’s written some lovely short stories and I’ve promised him that I will publish one of them on my blog. I’ve read the first draft of the one we’ll be publishing and he’s working on it again after some of my input and feedback (poor lad!). Now he’s asked me if I wouldn’t mind also looking at some work one of his school friends has also written. How could I refuse?

    • I heard about this last year. When I researched it, there was no one given credit for creation of the day, so I have no idea how long it has been around. I completely agree that this needs to keep rolling. What a beautiful opportunity here, to help someone realize their potential. ❤
