mental willness

His mind’s imploded

Folding up into itself

Where he can feel safe

Here, there is no risk

No explanation needed

A defensive move

Do very little

Then no one expects too much

He can control this

Leaving life behind

He is not the same man they knew

He hid himself well

Faking far too long

It was harder to pretend

Aged him way too fast

Measures time with pills

Visits from home health nurses

In between his naps

  1. This gave me chills. Reminiscent of my days working in longterm care … ♥
