Well, it appears that I have been reunited with your wonderful blogs!
The man with the key was Ajay, a customer service expert at Word Press. He guided me to the proper page, and sure enough, I found that a little box had been checked and as a result, I, I had BLOCKED ALL EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS from blogs I follow.
huh?
Of course I did NOT do that. Have NO idea how it happened, especially since I didn’t even know that this page existed.
Okay friends, here are the two pages for YOU to use should you ever find yourself exiled in similar fashion.
https://wordpress.com/me/notifications is where I found a page that had this at the top
NOTIFICATIONS COMMENTS UPDATES
READER SUBSCRIPTIONS
CLICK ON the LAST ONE
You will see SUBSCRIPTION DELIVERY and at the bottom there was a little box next to the words BLOCK EMAILS (block all email updates from blogs you’re following on Word Press)
Yes, that was CHECKED. I had no idea how it got that way, so I unchecked it.
Then I hit SAVE NOTIFICATION SETTINGS and I was good to go. Sure enough, I began receiving emails of blog posts from a few bloggers.
Also, if you are still having troubles, or troubles of a different sort, with your Word Press account, here is another page to go to:
https://wordpress.com/help/contact
That is where I hooked up with Ajay, by going to the space where it said I could talk to someone. I did keep that window open and checked it every few minutes. However, if you have to bail, they WILL email you to let you know someone has answered your question.
So, not that I am a pessimist, we will see how long this lasts. Obviously, more people blog earlier in the day, than in the evening.
Remember where you found that page…this happened to me once…and now it happens often. They suggested my email and the blog decides one or the other is spam and blocks the lot periodically.

I wrote it all down. What a load of hooey, eh? I guess I’ll have to have a chat with my email and ask it why it got so superior, eh? 🙂

I have the feeling that as soon as you accidentally catch a ‘spam’ rather than ‘delete’ button, it goes into self-defence mode. I am more inclined to blame human error than the computer… and have found that when this happens, I have a spam box full of stuff I wanted. Catch the button once and it sends everything in there…
If it isn’t that, then I’d say it is just being ornery 😉

GREAT that they know how to fix it. Better still would be knowing how to fix the screwy code that creates it – which *starts* by believing those of us who say we did NOT change the settings ourselves.
Thanks for the links to the fix-its, however, since I doubt that WordPress is ever going to actually fix screwy code.

I was flabbergasted to see that the little box was checked. That being said, I am grateful that I at least have a starting point should this situation ever arise again!

Best we can do – and grateful too that there’s a place to check and uncheck.

Oh, I spent many hours, going through the blogs I follow in Reader and seeing that they said I was not following them either. Then, I went an personally visited the blogs, only to see that I had been following them. It was crazy. How I came upon this information was a fluke but I am grateful as heck.

WordPress is renovating and preparing for that new program. I think that’s where all the problems lie.

This is good to know, Annette. I have had a few mishaps with social media accounts where it does things that I am sure I had no hand in whatsoever.

Ahh, so it was the tick in that box then? Glad you got to the bottom of it, Annette. But, like Sue said, check that box every now again, especially if your email box goes very quiet. 😎

Oh yes, now that I know #1 that the little box exists and #2 where to find it 🙂

That’s strange. It’s happened to me and a few writers I know. We stopped receiving emails of posts. If you click on the reader >manage subscriptions on the top left icon when on your blog, it shows all the blogs we subscribe to, then click on settings for each one and it allows you to choose how you want your notification – daily, weekly, etc. A few times I’d found WP gremlins mysteriously check ‘no emails’. ❤

That’s the beauty of community Annette. 🙂 When we’re stuck we can just ask our blogging friends. There’s always one of us who’ve been there, done that LOL 🙂 xx

I agree, however if I can find a way to wrangle those critters, perhaps they’ll work in my favor! Beside, we don’t want the ground water poisoned with the bug spray… 😉
