In response to Sue Vincent’s weekly #writephoto prompt of this week: Web
It was my suit of armor, the web of lies I wove. Couldn’t let them get to know the real me for then they would surely leave. I was a more interesting person with the lies. I felt powerful.
Shield yourself from the pain of rejection. Never allow them to walk away first. Don’t give them the power of thinking they have your number!
When I choose to, I can peel off the armor and free myself of the weight of it all. But who am I fooling? It’s just another lie I tell to make myself feel strong.
What a great way to look at this! And it’s so true, too, that a lot of people use lies, however harmless, to project what they want. Lots to think about…

Thank you, Margot. I went off in a couple directions before I settled on this.

Such a sad tale, Annette… and one true of so many people.

You are so right, Annette. The only one, there will be lied to, will be oneself.
Much more easy to just be ourselves 🙂

In the end, we may be successful in cheating on others but we can never cheat on ourselves.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am working on a book of 99-word stories. Not all that I write will make it into the book, but I have to keep writing to get better and make my quota!
