Sue Vincent invited us to use the above photo and the prompt word of MEMORY for this week’s #writephoto challenge. I choose to fashion a 99-word tale in response. Consider FOLLOWING Sue and participating when the mood strikes in her weekly writing opportunities!

What, why and when we choose to remember is nothing compared to how we choose to remember. Lola leaned hard against her favorite rock and let out a sigh. Choices, always choices.
She didn’t want to be haunted by past memories. Lola wanted nothing more than to live in a world where she could make happier memories. Choices, always choices.
As she let out one last sigh, she realized there was someone on the other side of the rock.
Phil closed his watering eyes and gave out a sigh. He was ruminating so many haunting memories. Choices, always choices!

Oh, I like the way you flesh out these characters with so few words! I want to know what happens to them next!

Sounds like this is the beginning of a longer story. I mean you won’t just leave them there on either side of the rock will you?

I agree … there is a longer story waiting in the wings here. That’s the beauty of flash fiction… it is a beginning, either for the reader’s imagination or the writer’s 😉
