With and Without Raisins


The house

Smells of spices

Cloves and nutmeg

Oh yes, cinnamon

She commands the kitchen

For this is her time to bake

The one thing she remembers most

Loaves of pumpkin bread to give as gifts

It’s Christmas like her mother did for years
