The box read, colored chalk
Her mind saw bright blue skies
Sunflowers with black eyes
Red ladybugs
Orange and pink tulips
Big brown dogs, small white cats
Birthday cakes, party hats
On grey sidewalks

Annette, I really loved this piece! You know, it made me think that there could also be big white dogs and small brown cats, but for some reason those aren’t the words/ images that first come to my mind! π

Thank you, Harmony. This is ABHANGA and I wrote what’s called A SERIES as there is more than one in the poem. 6 syllables in the first 3 lines, 4 in the fourth. So, it is a 4 line poem The 2md and 3rd will rhyme. π

Your form is definitely the abhanga and the senryu. You get that bit of humor and poignancy all curled up together. β€ LOVE this, Sis.
