Grandma goes to sleep each night at seven
Every night since Grandpa went to Heaven
She says there’s nothing to stay awake for
There’s only so many times one can sweep the floor
She eats her supper precisely at three
Does her dishes and watches a little TV
Opens her Bible and reads a bit
Works on a shawl she’s been trying to knit
She says that once the shawl is complete
She’ll wrap herself up and take a seat
Near the picture of their old Studebaker
And wait for Grandpa to come and take her
And when she closes her eyes each night at seven
She dreams of her reunion with Grandpa in Heaven
