Appeal

If Charli Mills only knew… I’d eat dirt if it tasted like lemons! So, I fell in love with this week’s  Carrot Ranch challenge right off. Though I have never made a lemon tart, I have eaten my fair share. Who knows, perhaps one day I’ll whip up a batch!

When they were little, people referred for them as the Lemon Tarts as the only treat they ever brought to the church bake sale were lemon tarts. Of course, they had no competition, for no one dared to challenge them the way an ordinary chocolate chip cookie might demand. One must be rather dedicated to perfect a lemon tart!

Over time, the tarts advanced in age and like their bite-sized lemon goodies, they remained favorites of the congregation and fans of the bake sale. To honor their steadfast contributions, and their age, they became, the bake sale Lemon Queens!

Take Off, Eh?

First flight! I remember mine well. It was forty years ago and I have to say, while it didn’t stop me from flying again, I do only fly when necessary.

Thank you to Charli Mills and the Carrot Ranch

for allowing me this opportunity to laugh!

The honeymoon flight from Detroit to Los Angeles was her very first. Not knowing what to expect, the young bride allowed her more well-traveled husband to guide her along the way.

He graciously gave her the aisle seat and held her hand gently while the flight attendant covered the emergency instructions.

As the plane pulled back, he reminded her that she should put the chewing gum in her mouth.

“Honey, look we’re climbing into the clouds!”

She leaned forward to take a look and vomited on the back of the head of the person seated in front of her.

Old Dog New Tricks

We were faced with using SQUARE and CIRCLE, so I chose TROGLODYTE and WHIRL.

Chocoholics

If you’ve never eaten a molten lava cake, I suggest you give it a try! That is right where my mind went when I saw the flash fiction prompt this week from the Carrot Ranch

“Nana, pulllleeze.”

Tension filled the air, thicker than the fragrant deliciousness wafting around the room. Naturally, the young ones were more than anxious as they planted themselves on the floor smack dab in front of the oven door.

One would think they had never been fed. One would think they had nothing else better to do. One would think they had no patience.

You could barely hear the timer bell for the chorus of cheers as Nana grabbed the oven mitts and pulled out the baking dishes. It was her joy to bake molten lava cakes for the grandchildren.
