Happy as a puddle of lucky ducks
Are little ones around an ice cream truck
Something chocolate-dipped or a fruity popsicle
Just toss a coin, since the appetite’s fickle

Excited children JUMP
Into big GRASSY piles
Show the world with bright smiles
Unbridled joy

Chubby little hands hold
Flowers made of paper
Fruits of youthful labor
Valentine love

The neighbor kids built it
A snowman in her yard
While working long, and hard
They still had fun
Watching through her curtains
Delighting in the gift
That gave her such a lift
And brought a smile
Carrots and coal and twigs
For a face, arms, and hands
Their creation looked grand
What was missing
They knocked upon her door
He needed clothes to wear
Had she something to share
Of course, she did
An old wool hat found she
And so stylish he’d be
Her dark, gray scarf

The little one found a can of paint
The lid popped off with no complaint
The adventure ensued
And when it was through
The little one’s parents did faint
