Quietus

Picture credit: Britta Benson. This photograph was taken inside St. Cecilia’s Church (built in 1739), Heusenstamm, Germany.

Softly, distant thunder

Caused heavy eyes to close

As the shrouded moon rose

The storm approached

Peaceful sleep, elusive

Fear interrupted dreams

Rain soon saw empty streams

Overflowing

Poor shelter neath the trees

Cold, scared and all alone

Just barely skin and bones

The last breath drawn

Threat or Promise

Mom said to be careful

When you let your face pout

Where you choose to make out

You’ll freeze that way

Ah Porpoise

I dive in on purpose

Knowing I can be free

To enjoy being me

So filled with joy
