Steel Myself #writephoto

In response to Sue Vincent’s weekly #writephoto prompt of this week: Web

It was my suit of armor, the web of lies I wove. Couldn’t let them get to know the real me for then they would surely leave. I was a more interesting person with the lies. I felt powerful.

Shield yourself from the pain of rejection. Never allow them to walk away first. Don’t give them the power of thinking they have your number!

When I choose to, I can peel off the armor and free myself of the weight of it all. But who am I fooling? It’s just another lie I tell to make myself feel strong.

Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge #277 River & Path

A river of tears

Flowing freely from within

Clears a path for joy

hopping happiness

Hush

There is

A bunny

Eating flowers

Outside the window

Unaware of the show

It is providing for those

Struck inside in their wheelchairs

Who sit and wait all day long to see

A bunny come by to eat the flowers

Naomi

So

She prays

Every day

This is the week

She gets to go home

She’s been here eight weeks now

The frustration has begun

No one tells her the same story

They all shrug their shoulders when she asks

Please, tell me when you will let me go home

day break

I opened my eyes

When the sun rise called to me

I found my heart’s smile

remember that

You

Own it

What it takes

To handle life

If you remember

That you have created

Your world through your emotions

For when you are feeling happy

You draw more happiness to yourself

This is power no one can steal from you

all clear

That scared little one

Hiding deep inside of you

Needs to know they’re safe

It’s okay to learn to trust

And they are worthy of love
