Liberation

Soft

The tears

Were falling

There was nothing

To be done or said

The release was needed

Internal pressure, set free

Emotions spilling over cheeks

Fear, anger, confusion, and despair

Disappeared as serenity returned

To Me

Charli Mills challenged us to write about the old photograph. I chose to use one from my early years. Be sure to connect with Charli and her remarkable 99-word flash fiction challenges every week!  Carrot Ranch

Chubby little legs held her up to the table where her parents had placed the birthday items. Such a display of love and affection. Of course, there was nothing in her mind to understand all the joy and excitement. She was new to all of this celebration.

Flash forward more than sixty years. Tears now fill the eyes of the senior citizen looking at the old photograph. Knowing now that her parents had little or no money, they still managed to make that birthday extra special. Knowing now what beautiful gifts birthdays have been. She makes a wish.

mind bender

Is this insanity

A moment of panic

Feeling oh so manic

A false alarm

numb numb

Can’t cast out the demons

Without Angels going

We choose without knowing

The connection

dam

Wet spot on the pillow

Nothing more than a tear

Just a moment of fear

Cry for freedom
