Blooms in gold then self-destructs

Pretend you’re a leaf
Waiting to be born each spring
As life, fresh and green
Weather summer’s days
Take your beauty sleep at night
Growing full and lush
Feel the seasons change
You begin to show your age
Autumn’s crisp colors
Become ground cover
Transforming into compost
Winter feeds the trees
Root systems find you
You journey to a new home
You’re reborn in spring
