Solid Friendship

She

Sits with

The geese on

The porch and talks

About this and that

Their ever-changing frocks

Their seasonal weather hats

She points out the clouds in the sky

How sometimes they’re shaped like giant bears

They are kind enough to listen to her

Party Purrfect

They’re shaking in their boots

Those wide-eyed little cats

Cause Shery bought some hats

For them to wear

Now, she sees it proper

That they dress up you see

For cookies served with tea

Tablecloth pressed

You never know what’s next

With happy little girls

If they like gloves and pearls

Quick, run and hide

Shhh

Riley and Jasmine wink

No one’s supposed to know

Just where they like to go

Secret clubhouse

A blanket and their dolls

Where they can be all-day

To dress up as they play

Snack for later

The space between their house

The neighbor on the right

Still in their parent’s sight

No boys allowed

Her Prerogative

She announced

She had a new name

Fiona

Call her please

After all, she’d been Mary

Five years already
