A PhoKu Op

What a grand birthday party month this has been!  What a treat to have everyone stop by for a grin and some grub. Speaking of which, make sure you let me know what you think of the Pasta Bar set up over there, near the window.  Loads of yummy  sauces, to lavish upon the home made ravioli, linguine and the tasty lasagna roll-ups! Don’t forget to fill a bowl with the tossed-greens salad and yes I made the oil and vinegar dressing (secret recipe). Bread sticks can be dipped in some extra sauce.  Wine, hot or cold is available for sipping, so make yourselves at home!

For those who have been helping to make my Birthday Wishes come true, by leaving REVIEWS, thank you so much. Not only am I smiling, but My Books are delighted to have the attention (not to mention those who cruise to see why others enjoy a particular book).

Speaking of a particular book…  This week I am offering YOU the opportunity to GRAB A KINDLE COPY of PhoKu – Visual Perspective Haiku for a mere .99!  (offer valid in the United States only) This book was inspired by my visits to a local park, where there is a small lake, filled with beautiful feathered friends. I would hang out and watch them interact, enjoying the moments so much, that I wanted to capture them forever. So, I took some pictures and wrote a haiku for each.

To be sure, not all of the photos were taken at the park, however, everything is from the City of Westland, Michigan, where I live.

Come and spend time with me, enjoying something designed to marry my “perspective” on the Japanese art of Haiku and sites that inspired poetry.

International Haiku Poetry Day 2017

This IS April 17th and that means I am in my glory!  Why? Because this is International Haiku Poetry Day!!  (woot woot) Now, this is National Poetry Month (all April long) and Int’l Haiku Poetry Day, so I have combined them and declared Int’l Haiku Poetry Month-Day…  (a woman’s prerogative)

https://www.thehaikufoundation.org/international-haiku-poetry-day/

If ever there was a poetry format I have embraced with every fiber of my being, it IS Haiku. Honestly, I will hear a phrase I like in my head and immediately I will hold up my left hand and use my right index finger to count out the syllables. If it doesn’t work out, I keep re-writing until it does.  Some say it’s a curse but I say it’s FUN!!

So, what am I doing to celebrate? I have released my latest collection of Haiku, A Haiku Perspective 2017 on Kindle.  That’s right, you can visit my Author Central Page and find both the paperback (if you are so inclined) as well as the Kindle version.  I am most excited to have this book available in both formats as I know there are those who would rather have an eBook.  Me? I actually prefer to hold a paperback in my hands. There’s something intoxicating about paper and ink. (must be those memories of mimeograph machines)

Whatever you are doing to celebrate… do it in 5-7-5 style

Join in on the fun

Express yourself in haiku

Just because you can

Sucha Deal Weekend Phoku

In celebration of National Poetry Month, I am offering the Kindle version of my first haiku/picturebook, PhoKu -visual perspective haiku for less than a dollar!  Friday, April 7th 11:00am EDT – Monday April 10th 11:00am EDT, you can download this book for .99

As I describe the term PhoKu, in the book itself:

 Explain what we see

Attach words to the pictures

We create PhoKu

The majority of pictures in this book are those I took at a nearby park. I fell in love with the ducks, geese and the scenery in which they danced, walked, flew and relaxed. I have read them some of the haiku from the book and I feel they are pleased…

Enjoy!  And remember, you can gift this book to someone when you place your Kindle order. What a nice thing for you to do.
