Night Swear

Toss and turn, pillow punch

The goal, to fall asleep

Warm and cozy and deep

Eyes wide open

Sheep, uncooperative

Useless trying warm milk

Switch to flannel from silk

Teddy bear mocks

When sleep calls to you

Pillows won’t muffle the sound

Best you just give in

Change into your nighttime clothes

Wrap yourself in the blankets

What shade would you be

If you woke to find you’re blue

Your pillow’s a cloud

Whoosh! Our dreams yearn to take flight into the mystical, magical night, acting if they are not really ours as they dance and weave among the stars. They seem to have a mind of their own freed from our imaginations’ home. They’ve only the night but they don’t care as the dreams invite us, their world to share. Alas, reality calls too soon when the sun arrives to relieve the moon.
