Entrancing #writephoto

Sue Vincent gave us a lovely photo to prompt us into writing this week. I chose to craft a 99-word story. Perhaps, you would like to write a poem, or fashion a longer tale. If so, please visit Sue’s blog and see what this photo says to you for this week’s #writephoto prompt, Entrance.

Patty was entranced by the tales of the cave in the picture. Each time she visited her Grandmother, hours would pass as she listened to the old woman talk of the strange goings-on that only the intensely curious had ever really experienced. All this made Patty wish she had been her Grandmother’s childhood friend.

One day, while visiting, she fell asleep in the comfy chair. She began dreaming of the picture’s rocks, moss and mysterious darkness that called to her. When she opened her eyes, Patty was standing at the cave entrance. Delighted, she took a tentative step forward.

Grandlight

In response to Sue Vincent’s #writephoto Light prompt this week, here is my wee story. Care to join her? Here’s the link! https://scvincent.com/2019/11/21/thursday-photo-prompt-light-writephoto/

Lauren’s grandmother was always her guiding light. Her grandmother raised her and she felt safe with her grandmother near.

After her grandmother passed, Lauren tried but found it difficult to find that guiding light again. It was scary to think she would have to live life on her own. Closing her eyes, she prayed for a sign from her grandmother.

As tears fell, she looked up and the first thing she saw was the tall pine in the yard. Through the branches, shone a brilliant light. It was the sign she prayed for. She smiled. Everything would be okay.

Wondering Wandering #writephoto

In response to Sue Vincent’s challenge this week to write something prompted by the word GLOW and this picture:

Be sure to check her out and join in the fun, if you are so moved! Sue Vincent #writephoto

“Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky in morning, sailor’s warning.” He glanced up at the sky from the hard seat of his wooden rowboat. So, what if it’s various shades of pink, he wondered. I mean, it’s not really red.

He baited his hook and cast it lazily into the water. Not much else to do today but fish. Besides, he needed to catch something to eat later. And he had used the last of his bread to try to lure the fish his way. Now he wondered if the bread would work.

What’s this? A nibble!

Steel Myself #writephoto

In response to Sue Vincent’s weekly #writephoto prompt of this week: Web

It was my suit of armor, the web of lies I wove. Couldn’t let them get to know the real me for then they would surely leave. I was a more interesting person with the lies. I felt powerful.

Shield yourself from the pain of rejection. Never allow them to walk away first. Don’t give them the power of thinking they have your number!

When I choose to, I can peel off the armor and free myself of the weight of it all. But who am I fooling? It’s just another lie I tell to make myself feel strong.
