measure for measure

We may think it’s random

Time’s given to something

That which makes our heart sing

Or brings a tear

Subconsciously we choose

Or we may boldly say

I’ll be busy today

And hang on tight

For one day, you’ll close eyes

With memories in tow

Of where that time did go

And what you chose

Ant Trap

In the distance, they saw

Tables laden with food

Not wanting to be rude

They headed out

One by one, forward march

Conveyances they lack

They’ll carry on their backs

All they will take

Determined oh they were

They kept the goal in sight

Focused with all their might

On the picnic

born to succeed

Be that whispering voice

Heard only in the heart

Of someone as they start

The new journey

Of being a parent

Something they’ve never done

Have a daughter or son

They may be scared

Remind them they have strength

To get through every day

For love will light the way

On this new road

Ciao Suzi

Finally let you go

And it wasn’t easy

You wanted to be free

It was your time

Thought we’d always be friends

Religion told you so

Friends like me had to go

I understand

Because I am a friend

I remember the fun

Our moments in the sun

This is my choice

The Woman

For all that life has thrown

In her face, in her way

She rises every day

To live her truth

Greeting every moment

With a warrior’s pride

Taking changes in stride

Owning her strength

Returning home each night

There’s still work left to do

Deep breath to see it through

Love motivates
