Drops in the Bucket

As water falls from the skies, she makes her way to a job that drains her energy. Day after day, it’s the same grind rewarded only by a paycheck at the end of the week.

As water falls from her eyes, she makes her way into her house where she must manifest energy. Night after night, the cooking, the cleaning, the laundry, rewarded only by momentary satisfaction.

As water falls from the sprinkler, she makes her way to the backyard swing. Season after season, she watches the blossoms appear from bulbs she has planted rewarding her with hope-filled beauty.

Falling in Love

Thank you, Sue Vincent, for providing such a lovely #writephoto prompt this week. Cascade is the title and both the photo and the title inspired the 99-word story below.

No city holds such beauty.  Here, the mind can wander and the body can relax.  The birds fill the skies and the deer don’t mind you if you don’t mind them. Make sure your shoes are sturdy for a car cannot traverse the winding path.

The towering trees keep you cool as you pass ferns and other flora. Should you need to rest, there will be an accommodating rock. You are following the song of the water.

As the branches part, you gasp in awe for they reveal the dance between stream and gravity. You’ve found your true soulmate.

water falls

Sure

There’s been

A few tears

But only when

Fear has taken hold

Not that tears are bad things

And of course, we need to cry

It is a sign we are ready

To take the next step and move forward

Swim through the river of tears to the shore
