The sign on her lawn read
Warm blankets I collect
The ones you may reject
Thank you so much
She did this every year
Washed and packaged with care
Love she wanted to share
With a shelter
Where local runaways
Find safety and a bed
Time to sort out their head
And learn to trust
This place was where she lived
A confused, frightened teen
With no future, it seemed
They gave her hope
She grew up and moved on
Promising to return
Helping others to learn
Life gets better

That’s how it should be. Teaching by example.
