Sucha Deal Weekend BooKu

How better to celebrate National Poetry Month, than to offer a Kindle Countdown deal on my Halloween story told in words and pictures. That’s right, from Friday, April 14th 11:00am EDT through Monday, April 17th 11:00am EDT, you can download BooKu – Halloween haiku for a mere .99

Every year, my sister delights the neighbors and visitors for miles around, with her imagination and devotion to all things Halloween. Every year, I take photos of the ever evolving yard to send to our family who can’t be here to see her creativity come to life. Last year, I thought that I should put it into a book, which would make it easier for everyone to enjoy.  The result was BooKu – Halloween haiku.

The haiku was written to fit the personalities of the creatures featured in the photographs. We’re talking whips and chains, rats and bats.  Body-less heads and zombies here! Yeah, it’s a party on our lawn every year. I am thinking they are okay with some of the irreverent verse, as they have not risen to haunt me throughout the rest of the year…

So head on over and grab a copy for yourself as well as gift a few to the boos and ghouls you know who enjoy a spoofy grin!

Sucha Deal Weekend Phoku

In celebration of National Poetry Month, I am offering the Kindle version of my first haiku/picturebook, PhoKu -visual perspective haiku for less than a dollar!  Friday, April 7th 11:00am EDT – Monday April 10th 11:00am EDT, you can download this book for .99

As I describe the term PhoKu, in the book itself:

 Explain what we see

Attach words to the pictures

We create PhoKu

The majority of pictures in this book are those I took at a nearby park. I fell in love with the ducks, geese and the scenery in which they danced, walked, flew and relaxed. I have read them some of the haiku from the book and I feel they are pleased…

Enjoy!  And remember, you can gift this book to someone when you place your Kindle order. What a nice thing for you to do.

A Bouncing, Baby Book has Arrived

In recognition of National Poetry Month, I am releasing my book, titled: A Haiku Perspective 2017. I am so happy to present this collection of haiku that I wrote in 2016.  Some of the works may be familiar to you and some not. A couple of the pieces were published in places other than my blog such as in the newspaper and in a chapbook. Several will be seen for the first time.

When I think of the opportunities we have, every day, to express ourselves, share our thoughts and leave a bit of ourselves behind, I find that poetry is the vehicle that suits me best. To use the format of haiku, requires that I condense my thoughts in a most succinct manner.

As April is National Poetry Month, I trust many of you will be writing a lot of poetry. Some will follow the haiku format and so much more will reflect everyone’s favorite styles. I look forward to reading and sharing as much poetry as possible this month. To that end, I will be offering special pricing on several of my published poetry books throughout April, so be sure to check back for details.

Find out what else is happening in the world of poetry, in the month of April. By visiting The Academy of American Poets. They are eager to share their resources, events and learn how to support you in your love of poetry.

If I could wish for you one thing, it would be that you fall in love with the alphabet.  Allow the letters to entice you to arrange, rearrange and then rearrange again until you feel they represent that which you wish to express. To be creative with such a simple tool can make you recognize your innate genius. If not, keep at it until it is revealed!   Love, Annette Rochelle Aben

This book features haiku written during 2016 some you’ve seen and some you haven’t. It includes the haiku that I contributed to the Poets for Peace collaboration which was eventually archived at Stanford University in 2016.

The actual book is due out in April, which is National Poetry Month.
