Colleen Chesebro invited Harmony Kent to supply this month’s #tankatuesday #poetry challenge with a Theme Prompt, and Harmony suggested: The Longest Day.
In September of 2009, this took place in Michigan. Over 12 hours.
7 pm, the call came
He’s 18, and he’s dead
In a hospital bed
Hit by a truck
Heads shook in disbelief
No, this could not be true
But what could pull him through
That he would live
Praying in circles, small
From all who heard the cry
Raise the request on high
Save this young man
Silence until the call
Eleven fifty-five
Dear God, he was alive
How could this be
Doctors went on record
It made the TV news
They said prayer pulled him through
Not their doing

OMG, the worst nightmare. Did I understand it the right way, he survived?

Yes, yes, he did survive! The Doctors were begging my brother to donate his organs the whole time. But no one could bear it. Faith prevailed!

Gosh, of course not! As long as there is a spark of hope there is no room for such thoughts. I am having goosebumps by this wonderful outcome. Wow!!

We are as well, Michael! It proves that when the Doctors tell you there is nothing they can do, not giving up hope is what WE can do! xx
