So, we waited all-day
Under gloomy, grey skies
It came as no surprise
Gentle Spring rain
Flowers enjoyed a drink
Birds found their baths filling
Heavy clouds kept spilling
Puddles forming

Was pelted
With driving rain
As the spring storm raged
Trees bent in submission
Animals ran for cover
The steadfast window remained strong
The thirsty earth and eager gardens
The only place the water was let in
